Some Sundays feel like a whirlwind. Some Sundays feel like a warm blanket.
And some Sundays (most Sundays, if we’re being honest) are me trying to pull my week together with a cup of coffee in one hand and a grocery list in the other… while pretending I’m a person who has everything figured out. 😅
Today’s post is all about my Sunday reset routine — the simple little rhythm that helps me feel calmer going into Monday — plus how I plan 5 meals for the week without turning it into a whole stressful production.
And yes: if you want my exact grocery list for this week, comment “GROCERY” and I’ll share it with you.
Why I reset on Sundays (even when I don’t feel like it)
I used to think a “reset” had to look like a spotless house, perfectly folded laundry, and a fridge full of matching containers.
Now I know better.
A Sunday reset, for me, is really just one thing:
Making Monday feel a little less heavy.
I’m not aiming for perfect — I’m aiming for prepared enough.
Even 30 minutes of light resetting can change my whole mood for the week.
My realistic Sunday reset routine
Here’s what my Sunday reset usually includes (in no particular order):
1) A quick tidy that makes the house feel calmer
Not a deep clean. Not an overhaul. Just the “future me will thank me” stuff:
- Clear the kitchen counters
- Load/unload the dishwasher
- Take out trash
- Quick wipe of the sink + stove
- Start a load of laundry (bonus points if it makes it to the dryer 😅)
2) A little reset for me
This is the part I used to skip — and it matters.
- Shower, hair up, comfy clothes
- Refill my water
- Coffee (always coffee)
- 10 minutes of quiet with a planner or notes app
3) The weekly plan: 5 meals, nothing complicated
I plan five dinners for the week because life happens. That gives me:
- A couple of leftover nights
- A “we’re tired” night
- A “let’s grab something easy” option without guilt
This alone keeps me from the 5pm stare-into-the-fridge panic.
This week’s 5 meals
I’m keeping it simple, cozy, and realistic. Screenshot this list if you want to copy it for your week:

These are all meals that work for real life — meaning: if you miss a day, you can swap them around, turn one into leftovers, or pivot into “breakfast for dinner” without spiraling. 🙃

My simple meal prep approach (no overwhelm allowed)
I don’t do the kind of meal prep where every lunch is portioned into matching containers (I love that for whoever does, but it’s not me).
Instead, I do ingredient prep — the kind that saves time but still lets me cook fresh.
Here are my go-to Sunday prep moves:
- Wash/chop one or two veggies (onions + peppers = instant head start)
- Wash fruit so it’s grab-and-go
- Cook one “base” ingredient (rice, pasta, quinoa, or shredded chicken)
- Pick one easy breakfast option (muffins, yogurt bowls, overnight oats, etc.)
And if I do nothing else… I at least make sure we have a plan and groceries. That’s the win.
If your Sunday feels messy, here’s your reminder
If you’re resetting today and it feels like you’re behind… you’re not.
You’re just human.
A reset doesn’t have to be dramatic to be helpful. It can be small. It can be simple. It can be one thing that makes tomorrow easier.
You don’t have to do it all.
Just do the next right thing… and let that be enough.
From my table to yours. Amy
